Homemade Guacamole
Guacamole
Avocados At Their Finest
Guacamole is a smooth and creamy dip/sauce served as a side item with Mexican food. Some people eat it on a Mexican salad, on mexican dishes, or as a chip dip. It is cool and creamy and full of nutrients. This delicious green dip dates back to the Aztec times. The word "guacamole" actually comes from the Aztec phrase "ahuaca-mulli" which can be roughly translated as guacamole sauce. Avocados are the primary ingredient in guacamole, although the region of Mexico a recipe comes from often dictates the additional ingredients in a specific guacamole recipe.
If you adore Mexican cuisine as I do (not to mention love avocados), give this simple guacamole recipe a try. It is sure to please.
Cook Time
Ingredients
- 2 large avocados, ripened (skin is black & flesh is soft)
- 1 large tomato, finely diced
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1/8 tsp kosher salt, (or sea salt)
- 1 1/2 tsp lime juice
Directions
- Peel the avocados and remove the pits.
- In a medium bowl, mash up the avocados.
- Chop the onions and tomatoes into fine pieces (I use the food processor). Add them to the avocados.
- Add salt and lime juice and mix all the ingredients together.
- Serve with warm tortilla chips or top your favorite Mexican dinner with it. Also make a good layer for the Seven Layer Mexican Dip recipe I posted previously. Enjoy!
