Easy Homemade Thousand Island Dressing
Thousand Island Dressing
Thousand Island Dressing
I love sweet and tangy Thousand Island Dressing. It tastes great on a traditional salad or just a crisp, chilled wedge of lettuce. According to legend, Thousand Island Dressing was created by George Boldt, the owner of the Waldorf-Astoria (New York) and the Bellevue-Stratford (Philadelphia) while cruising the 1000 Islands of the St. Louis River. Mr. Boldt resided in Boldt Castle atop Heart Island, which is one of the 1000 Islands. One day he was having a luncheon and discovered that he lacked many of the ingredients he needed to make his typical salad dressing, so he whipped up a substitute, which he enjoyed so much, he began serving it in his restaurants. He called it 1000 Island Dressing after the region he was in when he discovered this culinary delight. This recipe is incredible. It is so delicious and it rivals anything you can buy in a store.
